Somatic Experiencing
It has taken til this century for us to realize that trauma, little and large can be an every day occurrence for some humans. Defined as that which overwhelms the nervous system's capacity to adapt, we realize that each nervous system is different and what is a challenge for one person may be traumatic for another.

Peter Levine has developed a way of working which aims to unravel the threads of a trauma in a way that does not re-traumatise the individual. Breaking the experience down into the digestible parts - to the level that the nervous system can tolerate, a new integrated understanding can emerge..
This supports the person to understand that they did survive and that they are alive and well. Free of the triggers that have tied them to the past it introduces again the element of curiosity and joy into their life and the understanding, that in the safety of here and now, we can begin to see life differently.
